Ben Nighthorse was many things, including a N Cheyenne tribe member, award-winning jeweler, US Senator, and US Olympic Judo Captain in 1964. He was the first Native American to captain a US Olympic team. He passed 12/31/25.
This sterling silver ring features a large oval turquoise stone of striking blue set in a strip bezel with a silver rope & feather accent. The shank is adorned with unique stampwork depicting the Olympic Rings on each side. It measures about 1 1/4" in total length. The stone is a domed cab which measures 25mm long by 11mm wide. It has little matrix and is polished to a smooth glossy finish.
Size: US-11 1/4, UK-W/X
Weight: 15.55g, 0.549oz
This ring is vintage stock & pre-owned and shows minor signs of wear. I performed both a "hot-needle" test and a "scratch" test on the stone. The ring is not stamped to indicate the purity of the metal, but I tested the metal with a GTE silver acid test. The results (red) indicate sterling silver. The metal is also not magnetic.
