Job Description
TDS-Group is looking for a Disaster Risk Reduction expert with strong experience in tropical and/or island environments.
The expert will support the team for a period of six months, with an estimated total of 40 days of work on the following tasks:
- Preparation and development of the overall methodology aimed at strengthening residents\’ response capacities and preparedness for fire and emergency situations
- Conducting participatory community vulnerability assessment workshops
- Development of community disaster risk reduction plans
- Monitoring DRR
Skills required:
→ Advanced degree in disaster risk reduction, urban planning or related field.
→ At least five years\’ experience in disaster risk reduction, including field experience working with poor urban communities ;
→ Proven experience in tropical and/or island environments, preferably in Asia ;
→ Demonstrated experience in developing disaster risk reduction strategies and plans, community contingency plans and references ;
→ Knowledge and/or experience of participatory community vulnerability assessment will be a major asset.
→ Strong analytical and report writing skills ;
→ Excellent facilitation and communication skills
→ Experience of participatory approaches
→ Good knowledge of written and spoken English
→ Authority and composure in complex situations, to avoid and manage delicate situations such as fraud.
→ Experience of working in the field (security-related).
→ High capacity for work and stress management ;
→ Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work as part of a globally distributed team.
